Alberil was the third of four sons, born to a baronet in southeastern Tyre. His inheritance was simply a horse, Donovan, and a small sum of money. His brothers Vardon, Sevrin, and Bertram, all of a more scholarly and devious bent than he, were friendly enough, but the martial Alberil simply couldn’t relate to his more intellectual siblings, and over time they drifted apart.
The uprising and massacre at South Batonelle that brought down the Marcado del Bosque family was a shock to Alberil. Clearly the murder of an entire family was a heinous deed, but surely the common people must have had some reason to act as they did. When he asked his brothers what might have caused this incident, all three denied knowledge of any intrigue.
Alberil has dreamed of joining the Tyresian Guard, the elite honor guard which defends the duke and Heir Apparent and their families. He joined the military as the most logical path to that lofty position. He is thrilled to have been assigned to the “Bloody Tenth” Border Guards, the same unit in which Sir Jacob Keyes, the present Captain of the Guard, served decades ago.
